Mers-les-Bains, a charming seaside resort, flourished at the mouth of the Bresle River, marking the boundary between Normandy and Picardy. Together with Le Tréport and Eu, it forms part of the ‘inter-regional community of Bresles Maritime’, known as the Trois Villes Soeurs, or Three Sisters Cities.

Situated on the Picardy coastline facing the English Channel, this enclave is nestled within the renowned Opal Coast. Evidence of human presence in the region dates back to the Palaeolithic era, with numerous flints discovered in the area.Mers-les-Bains features Belle Époque and Art Nouveau architecture, known for its colorful and decorative 19th-century seaside villas. The buildings are characterized by a mix of styles, including Anglo-Norman and Neoclassical, with common features like ornate balconies, intricate wrought-iron railings, bay windows, and decorative brickwork and ceramics. The overall aesthetic is a vibrant and eclectic mix of styles, with facades often featuring contrasting colors on shutters and balconies.
