Molen ’t Slot (Mill on the Castle)<\/a> is a corn mill. Molen ’t Slot stands near the old city centre in a very pretty spot along the Hollandse IJssel on the city rampart. The dark green painted beard with white trim reads: ’t Slot ANNO 1832. As early as 1581, the city council granted permission to build a corn mill at the site on the foundations of the castle of the Heeren van Ter Gouw, which had been demolished shortly before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De Roode Leeuw (The Red Lion)<\/a> is among the oldest flourmills in the Netherlands. Next to the mill is a traditional shop where you can purchase self-ground flour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De Mallemolen (The Merry-go-round Mill)<\/a> in the Korte Akkeren district is one of the largest polder-drainage mills in the Netherlands. During the restoration in 2009, the mill got its head and wings back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De Haestrechtse Molen<\/a> is a polder mill and is still in full operation. He drains the Beneden Haastrecht polder, which is approximately 320 ha in size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An attempt is made to make the dewatering at least 50% with the wind. If this is not possible due to too little or too much wind, an auxiliary pumping station can be used in the form of an electric motor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
