The third-largest commune in Alsace (after Strasbourg and Mulhouse), it is the seat of the prefecture of the Haut-Rhin department and of the subprefecture of the Colmar-Ribeauvill\u00e9 arrondissement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/designjaap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Colmar-DSC_0687-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-123259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/designjaap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Colmar-DSC_0687-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/designjaap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Colmar-DSC_0687-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/designjaap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Colmar-DSC_0687-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/designjaap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Colmar-DSC_0687.jpg 1440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">&#8220;Little Venice&#8221; (<em>la Petite Venise<\/em>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The city is renowned for its well-preserved old town, its numerous architectural landmarks and its museums, among which is the <a href=\"http:\/\/designjaap.com\/?page_id=130687\">Unterlinden Museum<\/a>, which houses the <em>Isenheim Altarpiece<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/designjaap.com\/?page_id=34122\">Colmar<\/a> is located on the Alsatian Wine Route and considers itself to be the capital of Alsatian wine (<em>capitale des vins d\u2019Alsace<\/em>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mostly spared from the destructions of the French Revolution and the wars of 1870\u20131871, 1914\u20131918 and 1939\u20131945, the cityscape of old-town Colmar is homogenous and renowned among tourists.
