About 24\u00a0km south-southeast of\u00a0Cologne, <a href=\"https:\/\/designjaap.com\/?page_id=10511\">Bonn<\/a> is in the southernmost part of the\u00a0Rhine-Ruhr\u00a0region, Germany&#8217;s largest metropolitan area, with over 11 million inhabitants. It is a\u00a0university\u00a0city and the birthplace of\u00a0Ludwig van Beethoven. From 1597 to 1794, Bonn was the capital of the\u00a0Electorate of Cologne, and residence of the Archbishops and Prince-electors of\u00a0Cologne. From 1949 to 1990, Bonn was the\u00a0capital\u00a0of\u00a0West Germany, and Germany&#8217;s present constitution, the\u00a0Basic Law, was declared in the city in 1949. The era when <a href=\"https:\/\/designjaap.com\/?page_id=10511\">Bonn<\/a> served as the capital of West Germany is referred to by historians as the\u00a0Bonn Republic.
