The abbey contains the tomb of Saint Coloman of Stockerau and the remains of several members of the House of Babenber, Austria&#8217;s first ruling dynasty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/designjaap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Melk-DSC_0481-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-121145\" srcset=\"https:\/\/designjaap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Melk-DSC_0481-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/designjaap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Melk-DSC_0481-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/designjaap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Melk-DSC_0481-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/designjaap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Melk-DSC_0481.jpg 1440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Melk Abbey (Stift Melk)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Today&#8217;s&nbsp;Baroque&nbsp;abbey was built between 1702 and 1736 to designs by&nbsp;Jakob Prandtauer.
