In 1950, the museum was split in two locations when the collection of modern art was moved to the <em>Museum De Hallen<\/em> (since 2018 called <em>Hal)<\/em>. The main collection, including its famous 17th-century Frans Hals paintings, for which the museum is named, is located in the former <em>Oude Mannenhuis<\/em> on the Groot Heiligland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/designjaap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Frans-Hals-Museum-DSC_0490-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-119126\" srcset=\"https:\/\/designjaap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Frans-Hals-Museum-DSC_0490-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/designjaap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Frans-Hals-Museum-DSC_0490-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/designjaap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Frans-Hals-Museum-DSC_0490-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/designjaap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Frans-Hals-Museum-DSC_0490.jpg 1440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Frans Hals Museum location Hof<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The museum was founded in 1862 in the newly renovated former Dominican church cloisters located in the back of the Haarlem city hall known as the <em>Prinsenhof<\/em>, and when it needed more space, it moved to the recently vacated location of the town orphanage in 1913. The collection is based on the large number of paintings owned by the City of Haarlem, which includes over 100 artworks seized from Catholic churches in the 1580s after the Protestant Reformation, and Haarlem art rescued from demolished local buildings from the 15th century onwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018 the museum re-merged with <em>Museum De Hallen<\/em> to form a single museum called the Frans Hals Museum with two locations: <em>Hof<\/em> (located on Groot Heiligland) and <em>Hal<\/em> (located on Grote Markt).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a photographic impression of\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/designjaap.com\/?page_id=119087\">Frans Hals Museum<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Photography Frans Hals Museum Haarlem The Frans Hals Museum was established in 1862.
