Photography architecture Alkmaar

DesignJAAP had made architectonic photos of the historical city of Alkmaar.

The Waag, Alkmaar

The town  has the oldest cheese market in the Netherlands. Cheese carriers who transport stretchers with no less than 160 kilos of cheese. The colourful hats of the cheese bearers, the hand clap of the cheese traders and the vibrant surrounding market make a visit to the Alkmaar cheese market and is  one of the country’s most popular tourist attractions.

Alkmaar has many medieval buildings that are still intact, most notably the tall tower of the Grote of Sint-Laurenskerk. The other main attraction, especially in the summer months, is Alkmaar’s cheese market at the Waagplein. Alkmaar has 399 registered rijksmonuments, of which most are situated along the city’s old canals.

Alkmaar has various well-maintained museums: obviously the beautiful Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar , but also the Holland Cheese Museum, the Beer Museum and the Beatles Museum.

Here is an architectonic impression of the town of Alkmaar.
